Blackboard Shells Older than Spring 2005 to be Deleted May 1st

Blackboard sections from fall 2004 and prior will be purged on May 1st. This is in accordance with the published Blackboard Use Policy, Section V.6. If you would like to save your old courses as a template for future use, please contact the IT CallCenter by April 25th.

Blackboard Usage: Quick Facts

In 2004 Blackboard had 9,367 official course sections. 2,333 of those were made available by instructors. So 25% of courses were Blackboard enabled in 2004. Those shells used 110 GB of storage space that will be reclaimed on May 1st. Compare that to 2007 where 10,516 official courses were offered. 3,760 were enabled for an adoption rate of 36%.

2007 was a big year for Faculty adopting Blackboard. Spring 2007 had 30% adoption, and fall 2007 had 40%! The trend is continuing into Spring 2008 where 42% or official courses are available right now.
