Floppy & Zip Drive transistion- Starting during the Summer/Fall 2005 term we will begin a gradual phase-out of floppy and zip drives over the next four years. As each Campus Open Computer Lab is refreshed the workstations purchased will not have floppy, or zip drives.

The lab has both Macintosh & Windows workstations with high-speed Internet access for email, University website access, and Internet access for research, news and general use. The lab contains common software applications used for word processing, spreadsheets, publishing, and presentations. The lab is open to current University of Alaska Anchorage students, faculty, and staff. Patrons should carry a current UAA ID card with them, as this may be requested by the IT Services Consultants, or LRC staff, to verify current status.

Consultants - are available to...

  • Lookup, create, and reset email username/passwords
  • Assist with logging into the lab stations
  • Provide assistance in using MS Office, and other applications
  • Answer common questions regarding resources at UAA
  • Answer questions about UAA Computer Systems and to provide information about systems and resource access

Consultants are here to assist you - please be courteous. They can help you get started in the right direction, but consultants are not available for tutoring and cannot do your homework for you. Please do not ask a consultant to sit with you for an extended consulting session. There are other individuals in the lab who will need assistance and consultants are there to assist everyone. Consultants are allowed to limit the time for assistance, particulary if others are waiting for help.
