Internet2

Internet2 is a consortium being led by over 202 universities working in partnership with industry and government to develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies. The primary goals of Internet2 are to:

  • Create a leading edge network capability for the national research community.
  • Enable revolutionary Internet applications.
  • Ensure the rapid transfer new network services and applications to the broader Internet community.

The University of Alaska is one of the universities partnering in the Internet 2 initiative and has effectively used it in a variety of research areas. For a list of all the partnering universities visit the Internet2 web site.
