IT Desktop Services offers installation, maintenance and repair for desktop and laptop systems, network connectivity, PDAs and peripheral network equipment. Services are provided to UAA faculty, staff, students, and computer labs for both work and personal devices.


To schedule services for work related equipment: Customer's requesting work that will be covered by a department at UAA should contact the IT Services Call Center at 786-4646 or 1-877-633-3888, option 1. Work related devices are eligible for pickup or onsite service. Additionally, customers are welcome to bring their equipment to IT Services in the Social Sciences Building (SSB) room 120.

To schedule services for personal equipment: Customer's requesting work for their personal computers and other devices should bring their equipment to SSB 120. Personal equipment is not eligible for onsite service or pickup.

We are an authorized repair shop for:
  • Apple Authorized Service Provider: Perform upgrades, setup and installation, and warranty repairs.
  • Dell Authorized Service Provider: Perform upgrades, setup and installation, and warranty repairs.

The ITS Desktop team has the following certifications:

  • Apple Certifications: ACDT (Apple Certified Desktop Technician), ACPT (Apple Certified Portable Technician).
  • Dell Certifications: Dimension Desktops, Optiplex Desktops, Dell Workstations, Dell Notebooks, Dell Servers, and Dell Printers.
  • Microsoft Certifications: MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Associate), MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional).
  • Other Certifications: A+, Network+, Inet+, Security+

Special Topic of the Month: Annoyed by POP-UP windows?

 

Annoyed by malware (spyware, adware, or popups). Installation and execution of Spybot, a free utility that runs on windows, will remove malware currently installed on your computer. The computer savvy computer user can download and install the program themselves. It can be found here.  For those that prefer to have the IT Desktop Team perform the installation and cleanup of malware, call the IT Call Center 786-4646 to initiate a work request.
