Webmail guide

UAA Webmail gives you access to your email from nearly any computer with an Internet connection and a web browser. It is a way to read, and send email without using a dedicated Email program on your computer.

 

Supported Web browsers - We've only seen problems with the current version of Internet Explorer on Macintoshes and most versions of the AOL browser.

 

Logging on to Webmail

 

To access your mail you’ll need to connect to the mail server and login.

 

1.     Open Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator

 

2.     Go to http://webmail.uaa.alaska.edu

 

3.     You’ll see the following

4.     Type your username into the Username box

 

5.     Type your password into the Password box. Your default password is your UA ID number. If you don't know your UA ID you can find it at the following link: https://www.uaonline.alaska.edu/banprod/owa/bwgk2gid.P_DisplayID_Request

 

6.     Click the undefined  button

 

7.     If your username and password are correct, you’ll see any new mail you have received. It will look similar to the following picture.

Reading Your Email

 

 

1. To read a message click on the subject of the message.

 

2. To change folders, click undefined

 

3.     Click on the folder that you want to view. You can delete entire folders by checking the button to the left of the folder and clicking delete at the top

 

 

Sending Email

 

1. Click undefined and the following window should open

2.      Enter the email address that you are sending the email to in the Add Recipient field.

 

3.      Click one of the following

a.      Click To if they are the only, or primary, recipient.

b.       Click Cc for each additional person you are sending it to. (Everyone will be able to see whom it was sent to.)

c.      Click Bcc for each person that you don’t want to show up on the recipient’s list.

4.      Enter your subject line.

 

5.      Enter your message

 

6.      Click undefined

 

Options

 

You can set personal preferences under the Options menu, including:

 

  • Placing a copy of each sent message in the Sent  folder
  • Changing your reply-to address
  • Whether or not original messages should be quoted when replying
  • Signature included in each message
  • Setting default message views and appearances
  • Enabling an auto-reply vacation message
