For the past four years, Anchorage campus student technology fees have funded a Computer Lab Initiative. The initiative supports 38 participating computer labs in college departments on the main campus. The initiative provides supplemental operating funds to each participating computer lab and guarantees computer replacements every four years.
At the end of its fourth year of operation, the initiative has replaced roughly 99% of the 486 computers in participating computer labs. Participating computer labs have also enjoyed supplemental operating funding each year to offset the cost of computer support, other equipment replacement and supplies. Lab administrators have given the initiative an enthusiastic “thumbs up” as it dramatically improves the quality of these facilities for Anchorage students.
The month of September is designated as an open enrollment period for the Computer Lab Initiative. Open enrollment provides the opportunity for: (a) currently participating computer labs to add computers that have been purchased during the past year to their lab inventories; and (b) non-participating computer labs to apply for consideration under the Initiative.
If you are currently participating in the Computer Lab Initiative, you should have received an email with open enrollment program instructions. If you have not received this email please contact August Axtell (august.axtell@uaa.alaska.edu) for assistance.
If you operate a computer lab that is not currently participating in the Computer Lab Initiative and wish to enroll for consideration, please download the Enrollment Form, complete it and submit it electronically to August Axtell at the email address above. Questions concerning the open enrollment program can be directed to August Axtell, or Chris Axtell (chris.axtell@uaa.alaska.edu).
